Jewelry inspired by striking color palettes, unique textures and a discerning taste for high quality materials
As George Bernard Shaw once said, "You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use art to see your soul." The jewelry created by Gretta Van Someren of Attérg®, Inc. (uh-térzh) is a reflection of a woman's personality and soul. Inspired by striking color palettes, unique textures and a discerning taste for high quality materials, Gretta Van Someren's intuitive ability to create fresh and innovative, fashion-forward designs enable jewelry lovers everywhere to unleash and enhance their beauty with their own personal style.
Gretta, an internationally acclaimed and published designer, has held successful careers as a musician, poet and multi-media artist. Designing jewelry is another extension of her creative ability-- a true reflection of her personal inspirations and creative endeavors, and where her passion lies most.
Gretta has honed her skills over the years. Though mostly self-taught, she attributes much of her success as a jewelry designer to the teachings of well-known wire artists Dale Armstrong, Preston Ruether, Kriss Silva, Eni Oken, Connie Fox and Louise Dunhamel. A 1990 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Music degree, Gretta continues to further her education in wire-art and metal-smithing on a regular basis.
Gretta's sassy and stylish designs have been worn by celebrities like Brooke Shields and Eva Longoria-Parker. Her designs have also been seen on television and featured in the local and international press. Gretta is a juried member of several online artist communities and was recognized as one of StyleBakery.com's emerging "Designers On the Rise." (Fall/Winter '05 &'06) Gretta's ever-evolving exclusive designs are available in multiple styles to suit "even the most discerning woman who isn't afraid to make a statement with her accessories!" (Jennifer Walla, Fox Cities Magazine, Feb. '04)
