We all have those hokey promotional bottle openers that get through about five beer bottles before they snap in half. It’s time he got serious about the way he opens his bottles, and Zootility Tools are the coolest way to have fun, while still being useful and long lasting. It’s time to take the cheap opener you got handed at a music festival and throw it out the window. Why would you choose a freebie as something you carry with you all day every day?

ROCK 33 TUMBLERS – SET OF 2

What does the mysterious ’33’ on a bottle of tasty Rolling Rock stand for? Could it be the year of it’s debut? Nope, that was 1939. How about the year prohibition was repealed? Maybe, that was 1933. Perhaps the number of the racing horse pictured on the label? Or the number of letters in the Rolling Rock slogan? The list goes on and on, but there is one thing everyone can agree upon…These are some wicked cool tumblers! Set of 2 glasses in gift box.

Artfully Elegant is proud to be located on Main Street in beautiful downtown Bethlehem. We’ve seen our fair share of proposals along the cobblestone streets, many after we’ve helped them select their perfect ring.

And while Main Street in Bethlehem may be the closest to our shop, there are many places throughout the Lehigh Valley to propose to your significant other.

1. Any one of the Lehigh Valley’s Covered Bridges
coveredbridgelehighvalley

Lehigh County is home to numerous covered bridges, many of which have their original materials. There aren’t many more beautiful places to pop the question than in front of one of these rustic structures during the fall months. Photo courtesy of Discover Lehigh Valley.

2. Along The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail

The Lehigh Valley is home to nine wineries along The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail and each of them have their own charms. From Franklin Hill to Galen Glen (featured in our top photo), getting down on one knee during wine tasting not only takes the edge off, but may increase your chances of a “yes”!*

3. Coca-Cola Park and The PPL Center, Allentown

cocacolapark

These two spots may be more suitable for those who know that their significant others will definitely say yes. Coca-Cola Park is the home to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and The PPL Center hosts the Lehigh Valley Phantoms ice hockey team. Profess your love in front of a crowd of thousands!

4. The Lafayette Inn, Easton

Lafayette Inn

Take your love on a weekend getaway at one of the Lehigh Valley’s most wondrous inns. The Lafayette Inn has 18 individually decorated guest rooms in a stunning 1895 Georgian Mansion.

5. Hawk Mountain

Hawk Mountain

For those who are a bit more of the outdoorsy type, take your loved up on possibly the best vantage point in the Lehigh Valley.

6. The Hoover Mason Trestle, Bethlehem

HooverMason

We’re not sure if anyone has gotten engaged on the Lehigh Valley’s newest attraction, but judging from some of the incredible pictures taken there, and our own experience walking on it, the Hoover Mason Trestle would be a fantastic spot.

Do you have any other locations you think would be perfect? Where did you get engaged?

Always remember, Artfully Elegant is here to help you when you’re making your decision on which handmade engagement ring to buy. Be original.

Ceramic artist Sandra Silberman’s whimsical jewelry design have been the heart of Dotti Potts Studio since its inception in 1993.

However, it would be a travesty to simplify Dotti Potts jewelry into only the “fun” category. Many of the designs are also inspirational and personal to those who wear them or buy them as a gift for loved ones.

Silberman has developed an international reputation for quality and classic design. Her ‘Dotti Potts Studio’ combines modern simplicity with whimsy, producing a range of wonderful necklaces available in Artfully Elegant’s online shop.

Silberman’s material of choice is durable chip-resistant porcelain clay. Dotti Potts are irresistibly tactile, and are meant to be seen and used daily, to create an ongoing experience of delight.

Raised in South Africa, Sandra has called Canada her home since 1994. Her work is available at juried shows such as the One of a Kind Show in Toronto, at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and at her studio in Barrie, Ontario.

Baltimore-based metalsmith Hilary Hachey prefers the simple over the complex and the solidly built over the mass marketed.

This ideal comes across in every piece Hachey produces.

The result is a geometric masterpiece that, while grounded in the simplistic, plays off some pretty complex ideas.

“I adopted the Bauhaus name for my jewelry because the Bauhaus aesthetic utilizes economy of method and severe geometry of form,” said Hachey, who studied metalsmithing at The Maryland Institute College of Art. “My metalwork, hand-fabricated in sterling silver and 18k gold, achieves this through experimentation with the figure/ground relationship.”

While Hachey’s pieces are heavily grounded in the geometry she loves to bring to life, the hints of personality and nature are undeniable and, dare we say it, sometimes almost whimsical.

Although the winter wonderland idea is fun at first, the cold is getting old. Let’s get excited for spring! Sure, cleaning out your entire house is part of the season, but why not freshen up the house with some vibrant paintings for the walls. Peter Krobath’s original oil paintings are just what your house needs to get you in the spring set of mind. With a variety of shapes, sizes, and subject matter to choose from, Krobath’s art is perfect for any room of any home. Working in both oil and watercolor, Peter is a photo realist, often times capturing his idyllic scenes right from his backyard. Most of his paintings are set in the Hudson Valley area of New York, but they could easily be our very own Lehigh Valley. One of my current favorites is Sugar Maple Afternoon, but if you’re really looking for something to brighten your day I highly suggest any of his Sunflower series. Peter Krobath continues to capture every detail of the richness and purity the American countryside has to offer. Don’t gaze at his work through a computer screen; come see how bold his work really is. Let his work warm your home and your heart.
