Founded by Lisa Lowe, Oré Originals has a bright and colorful history. Lisa grew up in a loving family surrounded by creativity and function, so the concept of colors, prints, and patterns was part of everyday life for her. So, with a focus on useful products with a fun and creative edge, Oré Originals was started in her small Southern California garage in 1989, and it grew from there!

If you’ve ever checked out the wares here at Artfully Elegant, you’ve probably noticed the perky little pieces of pottery spattered with inspirational quotes and sayings. These little art pieces are more than just cute and inspiring, the artists behind them make each piece with a purpose.

Zpots, handcrafted in the Zpots Studio in Vermont, are individually made by husband and wife artists Eric Hendrick and Noelle Van Hendrick.

Each piece starts with a chocolate clay body and is hand thrown before being treated with a variety of techniques to give each one it’s distinct and one-of-a-kind look. Noelle then incorporates her own poetry into each piece, and hand writes her words onto each one.

When fired in the electric kiln, which is powered by Vermont Cow Power by electricity generated from surrounding farmlands, the studio keeps a renewable future in mind. “We make choices within our production and daily lives to benefit the mission of living in harmony with our planet.”


The colors used represent the elements of water, earth, and forest, and stay the same throughout each piece, while the lines are more varied and sporadic.

Eric and Noelle look at each piece as an individual that’s part of a whole collection, a family so to speak, making each one both individualized yet related in it’s method of creation and overall look.

Jerry Rhodes, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a ceramic artist who creates unique wares through a variety of techniques. His work has been featured in galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, South Carolina, New York, and of course here in Pennsylvania.

Beyond that, his pieces belong in many private collections throughout the world.

Jerry has never had formal training, and he attributes it to his unique ways that he acquires his craft.

“I’m not limited by what I’m supposed to know, nor do I feel obligated to follow any well-established procedures,” he said.

By using both traditional and nontraditional methods, such as using horse hair or steel wool during the firing process, and by finishing some pieces with African Porcupine Quills, a dramatic, elegant, and one-of-a-kind piece is created. The artist does admit, “Sometimes the results are dramatically bad, but you’ll never see the bad ones!”

Rhodes has an Electrical Engineering degree from Penn State University, is a former Air Force officer, and currently serves as the Joint Staff Air and Missile Defense Liaison to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

Boyce Studio crafts modern wood goods by hand in Downtown LA. Boyce’s products are created from a belief that the things that we use every day should be functional, beautiful, and last a lifetime.

Staying true to her hardworking Midwestern roots, second generation woodworker C.C. Boyce draws inspiration from her current residence in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District and the many talented Southern California designers and artists. Boyce Studio products are crafted using sustainable, local, made-in-America material whenever possible.

We all know that Artfully Elegant has a wide range of beautiful jewelry and artwork. What some of you might not know is that we’ll also be having a clothing and accessory display within our upcoming show Jewelry Box! The show is going to be fun, fresh, and trendy, so who better to have at the show than Ashley Feather of Soul Surfer? Her graphic Ts, screen print beanies, cute tote bags and more will be the perfect paring with your new jewelry from the show. It all began in the basement of the house she shared with Erin, our director of operations, during their senior year at Moravian College. She’s been developing her talents since then, making it a true passion of hers. Meet Bethlehem’s one and only soul surfer at the Jewelry Box opening reception on Friday, April 11^th from 6-8pm. Swing by and hang ten with her again Saturday April 12^th from 12-4pm. With the show blocks away from where it all started for her, Ashley is just as passionate about her work as she was in her college days. By taking one look at her line you can tell this designer is as optimistic yet conceptual as they come. With work featuring phrases such as “you are my sunshine” and “reach high for the stars lie hidden in your soul,” there is sure to be something for everyone. We’re very excited to have Ashley exhibit during Jewelry Box. Don’t miss out!

Although the winter wonderland idea is fun at first, the cold is getting old. Let’s get excited for spring! Sure, cleaning out your entire house is part of the season, but why not freshen up the house with some vibrant paintings for the walls. Peter Krobath’s original oil paintings are just what your house needs to get you in the spring set of mind. With a variety of shapes, sizes, and subject matter to choose from, Krobath’s art is perfect for any room of any home. Working in both oil and watercolor, Peter is a photo realist, often times capturing his idyllic scenes right from his backyard. Most of his paintings are set in the Hudson Valley area of New York, but they could easily be our very own Lehigh Valley. One of my current favorites is Sugar Maple Afternoon, but if you’re really looking for something to brighten your day I highly suggest any of his Sunflower series. Peter Krobath continues to capture every detail of the richness and purity the American countryside has to offer. Don’t gaze at his work through a computer screen; come see how bold his work really is. Let his work warm your home and your heart.
