During our last minute trip to Las Vegas a month ago, we picked up a few new artists, including Heather Moore Jewelry. HMJ has been on our radar for awhile and we finally took the plunge in Vegas. Heather Moore started as a jewelry enamel artist, but on a whim made a stamped piece that caught the attention of buyers and clients alike. As they say, the rest is history and now Heather’s hand-stamped keepsake jewelry is a staple among savvy jewelry buyers. Since each individual letter and image is stamped by hand, everything is custom and personalized to you. I fell in love with the line, so I made a necklace for myself to wear. Mine has a few components. I went with a large ID tag like the one pictured featuring the latitude and longitude of the house my grandparents owned for 60 years with their initials on the back. I added a large silver key with my initial, plus another small circle charm framed in green gold with my and my brothers’ initials. It’s sentimental and keeps my family close to me even though we’re scattered across the country. We also created a piece for Rori, featuring all the birth details of her son, Jonas. Name, date, weight, length, time of birth – it’s all on there and a really special piece. That’s the great thing about Heather Moore Jewelry; whether you’re commemorating a special time in your life, your children, a marriage, it’s all there, preserved in an heirloom you can pass on for generations. We’ve got some examples of work up on our facebook page right now and our stock should be up on the website shortly. If you’re local, stop by because it’s out in the case and looks great! I really love Heather’s story and philosophy, so look for many more posts about her in the future!

Hi all! So sorry for the huge lapse in time since our last post, but we have busy here at Artfully Elegant. The biggest thing we’ve been working on? We’re redesigning the website! All of your favorite parts of the current AE site will still be there, but it’s better looking, better performing, and much easier to use. All of us have been hard at work on it for the last few months and it’s about to come to fruition shortly. We’re hoping *fingers crossed* that’s it’s up in the next week, so keep checking back for the launch! Notice any bugs or something isn’t working right? Please send us an email and let us know! We’ve gone over it with a fine tooth comb, but fresh eyes may catch something we didn’t. Try us at [email protected] and we’ll check it out. See that good lookin’ crew in the pic up there? That’s our staff here at AE. One of the new features on the site will be staff picks – personal collections hand picked by us featuring our favorite designers and pieces. Our erstwhile designer, photographer, and friend, Marty Desilets ,did a whole photo shoot for us and our staff picks. The pictures turned out great – lots of outtakes with this group, but lots of good ones too! In the picture, from L to R: Erin (that’s me), Rori holding Jonas, Ranjeet, Neha, Ellen, and Wilco the dog.

Mother’s Day is 11 days away, so it’s time to get your orders placed! Check out some of our gift suggestions below!

  • Perennial favorite Figs & Ginger is always a great choice for moms. You can choose one to four baby birds, but the great thing is that you can add on babies for each addition to the family as they come. The Momma and Babies on a Branch is a great choice, but you can also get the family necklace. The Dads are included in that one too!
  • You can’t go wrong with Kathy Bransfield. Kathy is our most popular artist and has designs perfect for any special woman in your life. Check out the My Mother or Grandmas. Dancer is our newest design, so maybe that will be the perfect necklace for your mom.
  • We’ve also got some great options from Dogeared. I’ve got the Gold Mom Star in stock now, plus more of the Silver Mom Star arriving early next week. I’ve also got some brand new Mom specific designs and some other new necklaces arriving then too. I’ll get them up on the site immediately, so check Facebook for the latest updates.

Order soon to ensure delivery in time for Mother’s Day!

I work with plenty of clients looking for the perfect engagement ring for their significant other. I spend a lot of time with them in person, over the phone, and through email learning about them and their soon-to-be fiances. I try to understand their personalities, their tastes, what exactly is they’re looking for in the ring and then we work together to find “the one.” Jamie and Becky’s story is one I won’t ever forget. Jamie came to me looking for the perfect ring for her partner, Becky. In one of the very first emails we exchanged, Jamie said to me that Becky was one of the most incredible women she has ever known and deserved a ring to match. After a lot of searching, she finally decided on the Ice Blue Pave Solitaire from Anne Sportun. It’s just the right amount of sparkle, but the blue diamond sets it off and takes it to that really special level. I sent the ring off to Jamie and then figured I wouldn’t hear from her again until sometime in May, when she planned on proposing. Well, Jamie sent me an email on Monday and I guess she couldn’t wait! Jamie had the ring for a few weeks and it was burning a hole in her pocket. On March 31st, she decided she couldn’t wait any longer and eventually decided to do it the next day on April Fool’s Day, something Becky would never expect. They went to dinner that night at the same place they’d had their second date. They’d had a great dinner that night and walked along the river afterward. In that moment, Jamie realized Becky was someone different, someone special. Later after they’d been dating a while, Jamie knew she would propose there, along the river, bringing it all back to the date that changed everything. After their dinner on the 1st, they walked down to the river and Jamie proposed to Becky, who said yes through many tears. But then Becky surprised Jamie too. Becky had decided to have a ring made for Jamie and she would give it to her whenever Jamie proposed. On March 31st, the same day Jamie decided she couldn’t wait any longer, Becky had cut a hole in the lining of her purse for the ring, so she’d have it on her and ready no matter what. She pulled it out and then it was Jamie’s turn to be completely shocked. Even better, and independent of each other, the two of them managed to pick rings that are perfectly complementary to each other. Becky had Jamie’s ring designed by a local jeweler and it has 2 blue diamonds in the center with white diamonds the rest of the way around. It’s a perfect match to Becky’s Sportun ring and both rings clearly suit the two of them. From all of us at Artfully Elegant, I just want to extend our congratulations and the biggest amount of best wishes to Jamie and Becky. Rori got goosebumps when I told her the story and even Ranjeet cracked a smile. Their story completely made my day and probably my week and possibly my month. They’re clearly both so happy and in love with each other. I wish you two nothing but happiness for the rest of your lives. Congratulations again.

We have lots of new jewelry in the shop and online, including Amy Peters of Amy Peter’ Studio. I’m really excited about Amy’s jewelry. It’s inscribed inspirational jewelry, but it’s short and sweet and to the point. If you’re looking for a quick gift with a simple sentiment, Amy is definitely the way to go. I think my favorite is the Life is a Journey necklace that’s pictured, but Sweet Pea is also very, well, sweet. Her bracelets are also very beautiful. Check out the Within You bracelet. On one side, it’s a simple heart and on the other side it says “You already have it within you.” It’s perfect when you need a little extra encouragement for yourself, but maybe don’t want everyone to see it. All of Amy’s jewelry is made with sterling silver that’s been given a matte finish, so they’re very wearable and perfect for everyday. The best part is probably the price – all of the necklaces are less than $50 and the bracelets are only $60 each. That’s a steal for handmade jewelry!

Artfully Elegant, in conjunction with Lehigh Valley Style Magazine, is very pleased to announce our trunk show with Todd Reed. On Saturday, May 14th, Todd Reed’s wholesale manager and long time colleague, Kim Carpenter, will be on hand at Artfully Elegant with over 300 pieces never before seen in our gallery. In addition to completed designs from all of their collections, Kim is going to bring a variety of loose diamonds you can design a custom ring around or put them in a setting of your choice. Been lusting after a Todd Reed design to call your own? Now is the best time to make it a reality. Kim and our staff will be in the gallery throughout the day, but the real fun is from 5-9pm that night. Joining with the lovely ladies at Style and playing on Todd’s theme of “Raw Diamonds, Raw Elegance,” we will feature sushi from Kome, Japanese beer from Kirin Ichiban, and champagne for all to enjoy. This should be a wonderful evening of jewelry and revelry. Put it on your calendars now because this is not to be missed! Check back here for updates, follow us on Twitter, or friend us on Facebook.

The newest artist to join the Artfully Elegant collection is Dogeared Jewelry. Created by Marcia Maizel-Clarke in 1991 in California, each charm is handmade and placed on a variety of silk threads and chains. With their wish necklaces and bracelets, you put it on and make a wish. When it wears off, your wish should come true. The wish necklaces come on a variety of colored silk thread. The wish bracelets are on irish linen, a waxed cotton cord. You can wear them, as Dogeared suggests, or you could take them on and off is you wish. I ordered a huge range, so we have lots of great options. I love the Wish Big necklace, the I Am Lucky Horseshoe that’s pictured, and the Key to Success. All of their necklaces have great messages that go along with them, so they’re great as gifts or a pick-me-up for yourself. Look for the bracelets on the site soon! Their more “permanent” necklaces are the reminder necklaces. They’re the same charms as the wish series, just on solid sterling silver or gold-dipped chains. They’re a great for layering and mixing with other designers, like Laurel Denise. I think my favorite is Love Potion, but the north star in the Mom necklace is super cute too. Plus we have that one in silver and gold. The best thing about these is that the wish necklaces and bracelets are only $25 and most of the others are under $50. They’re a steal for handmade jewelry!

I know I was poetic about Anne Sportun’s pave diamond rings a lot on here, but that’s because they’re awesome. This new one, the Pave Diamond Medallion, is no exception. Ranjeet and I ordered it when we saw the always lovely Barb and Suzanne at the New York Gift Fair at the end of January. Now that it’s here in the shop I can’t stop trying it on! It’s great size for one – about 14mm in diameter or a little more than a half inch. I always say the great thing about pave rings is the sparkle. Lots of smaller diamonds combined produce a whole lot of sparkle that you just can’t get one from huge stone. While this is a great picture, the ring must be seen in person (and tried on) to be truly appreciated. We also have some a new pair of earrings and two necklaces from Anne. We went with a sapphire theme for this set, so they all work together nicely or on their own. The earrings, em1065, are really cute and super affordable for solid gold and sapphires. The n1165 is a great necklace – the graduated rondelles of sapphire really pop and make a statement on the delicate chain. We also got a wonderful double strand of sapphires. Look for that on the site shortly!

Ranjeet and I spent the day in New York City at the New York International Gift Fair on Monday. The NYIGF is basically a huge trade show full of a variety of artists. Lots of our artists attend, so it was great to catch up with them, plus we added a couple of new artists to our collection. Here’s a quick rundown of all that went on:

  • We placed some quick reorders with Stephen Estelle, Veto, and Laurel Denise. We added a few necklaces and earrings to Stephen’s collection, which is new for us. I sold our last leather bracelet from Veto on Friday, so I added a bunch more. Laurel Denise basically sold out at Christmas TWICE, so a reorder was necessary. She’s making these really cute wrap bracelets/long necklaces, so we’re trying a bunch of them.
  • We’ve also got some new watches coming from Projects and more railroad birds from Stiles in Clay. Projects has a lot of new styles, so check back for those.
  • We spent a solid hour with Barb and Suzanne from Anne Sportun. They were wonderful as always and we really picked out some wonderful new jewelry. We’re adding 2 men’s bands. We’ve always focused on the women’s engagement and wedding rings, so we figure the men should get a chance to have an Anne Sportun. We’re also bringing in a few lovely sapphire necklaces and a pair of earrings. Plus, we’ve got 2 new engagement rings, one of which is a one of a kind. I am very excited for it all to arrive!
  • We added 3 new artists as well! Amy Peters of Amy Peters’ Studio creates beautiful necklaces, rings, and bracelets with tiny inspirational quotes with her signature touches. These are super affordable and delicate. If you like Kathy Bransfield, you’ll love Amy Peters!
  • We haven’t had a new artist of the non-jewelry variety in awhile, so we’re happy to add Debra Dresler of Stroke of Art. Debra make clocks from old cameras, ViewMasters, and rotary telephones. These are, in a word, awesome. Look for a dedicated post when they arrive in the gallery.
  • Last, but not least, I am really excited to announce Dogeared as our newest designer. Created by Marcia Maizel-Clarke in California in 1991, Dogeared features delicate sterling silver and gold-dipped charms on chains or nylon thread. We grabbed a bunch of necklaces and bracelets from their “Wish” line. You put the necklace (on thread) on and make a wish. When it wears off, your wish should come true. Most of them retail for $50 or under (less for those on thread), so they are easy to grab for gifts for a friend or for yourself.

I’ll announce each new arrival here, so check back often!
