Rob Gonsalves was born in Toronto, Canada in 1959. During his childhood, he developed an interest in drawing from imagination using various media. By age twelve, his awareness of architecture grew as he learned perspective techniques and began to do his first surreal paintings and renderings of imagined buildings. After an introduction to Artists Dali and Tanguy, Gonsalves began his first surrealist paintings. The “Magic Realism” approach of Magritte along with the precise perspective illusions of Escher came to be influences in his future work. In his post college years, Gonsalves worked full time as an architect, also painting trompe l’oeil murals and theatre sets. After an enthusiastic response in 1990 at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, Gonsalves devoted himself to painting full time. Although Gonsalves’ work is often categorized as surrealistic, it differs as the images are deliberately planned and result from conscious thought. Rob Gonsalves surreal paintings are masterfully created. Each telling a story in and of themselves.

Nancy Nelson Jewelry was launched in 2007 out of the innate desire to be a mom while running a successful jewelry business. Years later, Nancy has turned her passion into a full time business and a creative journey. While obtaining her BFA in Industrial Design, Nancy enrolled in a metalsmithing class where she made her first sterling silver ring. She soon was hooked and continued developing her own unique style of creating beautiful jewelry. Nancy draws inspiration from the rural countryside where she lives with her husband and their three children. From the textured lichen found on an old oak tree, to the linear form of birch bark or the natural shape of a handpicked twig, her jewelry is about appreciating the natural beauty that surrounds us. After Nancy discovers the perfect finding, she takes it back to her studio where she then transforms it into a glamorously chic, rustic and wearable piece of jewelry. The Nancy Nelson Jewelry collection reflects a love for nature, simplicity and all that is naturally beautiful.

Allison Krongard’s first WallCandy client was a three-year-old named Max. Her career at Knoll International had given her a keen eye for design, so friends (including Max’s mom) often sought her decor advice. As it turned out Max was one tough customer. Just as soon as Allison had pulled together the inspiration, swatches, and paint chips to suit his dinosaur obsession, he’d kindly inform her that he had moved onto spaceships. This gave Allison a big idea: if kids’ imaginations grow as fast as their bodies, why not create a decor element that’s easy to change and easy to apply? Thus WallCandy Arts was born in 2002.

Nobu Haihara was born in 1959 in Kokura Japan at a time when all eyes of Japan were glued to the TV for the wedding of Heisei emperor. Strongly influenced by his mother, a crafter who handmade many of the things in their home, Haihara inherited her creativity. As a child, he loved drawing and was often scolded for doing it on any available surface. The Haihara family was in the business of selling Western groceries and, as a child, Nobu, playing in the storage room, was fascinated by the silk-screened print on the packaging. This was his introduction to the pop art of America. After graduating from Hiroshima Economic University, he returned to Kokura but after two years, his desire to be an artist brought him to America where he took up residence in Californiaís Venice art community. Here, in the mid-eighties, Haihara worked as a freelancer, and sold his artwork at Venice’s outdoor art market.
